Chief of the F.D.L.C.
Thomas Roland (2016 - )
Chief Roland is the first Chief of the Department that had no prior experience before
being hired as a F.D.L.C. Recruit in 1997. He was a member of the first ever F.D.L.C. Fire Academy Class #1. Upon graduating the fire academy in July of 1997, he was assigned to Engine 54 in Liberty Park. In 2000 Chief Roland was reassigned to Rescue 1. Chief Roland was promoted to Lieutenant in 2001 and was reassigned to Truck 47 in Petersburgh. He was then promoted to Captain in 2005 and was
reassigned to Rescue 4. In 2009 he was promoted to Battalion Chief and was
assigned to Battalion 24. He was then promoted to Deputy Chief in 2011 and was
assigned to Division 3. In 2013 he was promoted to Assistant Chief of the Department. On January 1, 2016 he was sworn in as the 7th Chief of the F.D.L.C. by
County Executive Jeffrey Roberts.

Jacob Petersen (1997 - 2000)
Prior to the establishment of the F.D.L.C., Chief Petersen was a Deputy Chief with the Mattropolis Fire Department. He was assigned Chief of the F.D.L.C. by County Executive Christopher Cooper.
Peter Jefferson (2007 - 2010)
Chief Jefferson, prior to the establishment of the F.D.L.C., was a Captain of Jakeland Engine Co. 9. In 1997 he was hired as a Deputy Chief and was assigned to Division 1. Chief Jefferson was then promoted to Assistant Chief in 2003. On January 1, 2007, Chief Jefferson was sworn in as Chief of the F.D.L.C. by County Executive Shannon Hicks.

Charles Miller (2001 - 2002)
Chief Miller prior to the establishment of the F.D.L.C., was a Battalion Chief with the Libertyville Fire Department. In 1997, he was hired as Assistant Chief of the F.D.L.C. He was sworn in as Chief of the F.D.L.C. on January 1, 2001 by County Executive David Swan.
Leonard Marshall (2011 - 2012)
Chief Marshall was a Deputy Chief in the North Hudson Fire Department prior to F.D.L.C.'s establishment. In 1997 he was hired as a Deputy Chief and was assigned to Division 3. In 2002, he was reassigned to command the Rescue Operations Division. Chief Marshall in 2007 was promoted to Assistant Chief. He was sworn in as Chief of the F.D.L.C. on January 1, 2011 by County Executive Joshua Black.

Michael James (2003 - 2006)
Chief James was a Captain of Ravenwood Rescue Co. 1 prior to joining the F.D.L.C. ranks in 1997. He was hired as a Battalion Chief and was assigned to Battalion 15. In 1999, he was promoted to Deputy Chief and was assigned Division 5. Chief James in 2001 was promoted to Assistant Chief. He was then sworn in as Chief of the F.D.L.C. on January 1, 2003 by County Executive David Swan.
Mark Washington (2013 - 2015)
Chief Washington was Assistant Chief of the North Jersey Regional Naval Fire Rescue until it was disbanded in 1996. In 1997 he was hired by the F.D.L.C. as a Deputy Chief and was in command of the Rescue Operations Division until 2002. In 2002 he was then reassigned to command the F.D.L.C. Fire Academy. In 2011, Chief Washington was promoted to Assistant Chief. He was sworn in as Chief of the F.D.L.C. on January 1, 2013 by County Executive Joshua Black.
