These are some of the incidents that the F.D.L.C. have operated at in Liberty County and other jurisdictions in 2020.
12/23 RIVERWOODS 4 ALARM
One engine from the FDLC was requested by the City of Riverwoods to assist at the scene of a 4 Alarm abandoned foundry fire. Engine 54 responded and was tasked with securing a water supply to feed multiple master streams being used to battle the blaze. Smoke from this fire could be seen and smelt throughout Liberty County. The FDLC received multiple calls from concerned residents reporting a smell of smoke in their neighborhoods.
12/5 JAKELAND GENERAL ALARM
Truck 60 and the Hazardous Materials Team assisted the Jakeland Fire Dept. at the scene of a General Alarm structure fire in their city on South Newman St. Jakeland's Bravest were dispatched to a building fire on South Newman St just before 7 AM. When they arrived on scene, they found the manufacturing plant fully involved in fire and flames venting through the roof. The assignment would grow to a General Alarm bringing in every Jakeland FD unit to the scene. Truck 60 assisted and placed its tower ladder in operation. Hazmat 1 assisted at the scene due to the presence of multiple hazardous materials in the building. Thankfully there was no one in the building at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured battling this massive blaze.
11/29 SPRING ST (ARCOLA) 2ND ALARM
A fire occurred at an apartment complex on Spring St after a first floor resident put her oven on self clean. Firefighters quickly arrived on scene and found the fire had flashed in the kitchen and heavy smoke was pushing up to the floor above. Deputy 3 would request a 2nd Alarm when he arrived on scene. Engine 57 and Truck 57 arrived on scene first and immediately began a search for any trapped occupants and attacking the fire. Engine 54 was the second due engine to arrive. After securing a second water supply for the fire, 54's crew stretched a second attack hose into the building. Thankfully the fire was quickly able to be knocked down and contained to the original fire floor apartment. The hallway and the apartment above suffered heat and smoke damage. The occupant of the first floor apartment was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and minor burns as she attempted to put the fire out herself. No firefighters were injured.

8/20 JAKELAND GENERAL ALARM
Rescue Company 3, RAC 3 and Air 3 were all requested to assist the City of Jakeland Fire Dept. at a General Alarm incident on Main St in their city. A fire in a fried chicken restaurant would consume two buildings and threaten the entire block. Rescue 3 was initially requested to stand by at the Eagle Ave Fire House to act as Jakeland Rescue 1 while they worked at the scene. They would be redirected to the scene and act as the FAST team upon arrival. RAC 3 and Air 3 would also respond to the scene to assist. 8/4 PINE ST (THOMASVILLE) 2ND ALARM
At 2:47 AM, firefighters in Division 5 were dispatched to a reported working house fire on Pine St in Thomasville. Engine 30 and Truck 37 arrived on scene first and found heavy fire in the home. The fire had originated in the attached garage and quickly extended into the home. Flammable materials being stored in the garage quickly caused explosions to occur as firefighters were attempting to stretch hose lines into the home to combat the blaze. Firefighters were able to force entry into the garage and use a 2.5" hose line to knock down visible flames. Flames would extend up to the second floor of the home but firefighters would be able to hold it. The home was declared uninhabitable as every room suffered either fire or heat damage, however, the home is not a complete loss. The incident would be held to a 2nd Alarm assignment and thankfully there were no injuries to any residents or firefighters.

7/14 GARDEN STATE PARKWAY (PETERSBURGH) ROLLOVER
At 1:15 PM FDLC Firefighters were dispatched to the Garden State Parkway North, Mile Marker 161.6, for a rollover involving a dump truck. Engine 83, Engine 47, Rescue 3 and Battalion 11 were dispatched. Engine 83 was first to arrive on scene and found a dump truck on it's side with gravel on the pavement. The driver of the truck was able to self extricate himself and suffered minor injuries. Crews stood by until the truck was removed from the scene. The vehicle did suffer a fluid spill which Rescue 3 was able to mop up with speedy dry. UNITS ASSIGNED: Engine 83, Engine 47, Rescue 3, Battalion 11
5/17 ANDERSON ST (MATTROPOLIS) 3RD ALARM
At 9:51 AM FDLC Firefighters were dispatched to 101 Anderson St in Mattropolis for a working fire. When companies first arrived on scene, they found heavy fire already venting from the second floor of a 2.5 story brick building. Hoses were quickly deployed but firefighters were unable to get a quick handle on the flames. The roof would partially collapse which would force operations to turn from offensive to defensive. Trucks 23 and 60 would put their aerials in operation and combat the flames with their master streams. A total of 3 Alarms would be needed to the scene to combat the blaze. One firefighter was injured at the scene, but was treated and released. The cause of the fire appears to be electrical.

4/27 HOWLAND AVE (PETERSBURGH) 3RD ALARM
At 1:07 AM, firefighters in Petersburgh were dispatched to a working house fire on Howland Ave. When Engine 83 and Truck 83 first arrived on scene, they found a home heavily involved in fire. Battalion 11 arrived shortly after and requested a 2nd Alarm on arrival. Once Deputy 3 arrived, Deputy Chief Bret Savage, a 3rd alarm was requested to the scene due to neighboring homes suffering heat damage to their vinyl siding. Multiple hoses were stretched to protect the exposures and prevent further spread. Trucks 83 and 47 both put their ladders in service and utilized their master streams to also battle the blaze. Thankfully no one was injured at this incident and the home was vacant. The cause of the fire is suspicious and the investigation has been turned over to the Liberty County Prosecutor's Office Arson Unit.

4/19 rochelle ave (liberty park) mva
At 3:56 PM, Rescue 3, Engine 54 and Battalion 14 were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Rochelle Ave in Liberty Park. Both the rescue and engine arrived shortly after dispatch since the crash occurred two blocks from their station. When units arrived, they discovered a two vehicle motor vehicle crash involving a transit bus. One victim inside a sedan needed assistance getting out of the vehicle since the impact caused his legs to become pinned. Rescue 3's members performed a dash roll and removed the front driver door to allow EMS to extract the driver easier. The driver was transported to Mattropolis University Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. The bus was out of service at the time and was being transported to be sanitized due to the COVID-19 virus. The bus driver was treated at the scene by EMS and refused further medical treatment. Firefighters stayed on scene until both vehicles were removed from the scene and assisted with applying speedy dry for a fluid spill.
