12/18 ROUTE 15 NORTH (CARLTON HILL) CAR FIRE
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire on Route 15 North in Carlton Hill. Engine 5 and Truck 5 were dispatched and quickly arrived on scene. Upon arrival they found a classic car, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, in flames. One hose was quickly stretched to douse the flames from Engine 5. Thankfully no one was hurt. The driver of the vehicle and the passenger, who were on their way to the Holiday Parade in Brick Twp, escaped unharmed.

3/13 KENT ST (MATTROPOLIS) HOUSE FIRE
At 12:03 PM, firefighters were dispatched to a residence on Kent St in Mattropolis for a working house fire. A neighbor called 9-1-1 reporting smoke showing from the residence and they did not believe anyone was home. When Engine 88 arrived on scene first, they found smoke and flames showing from the first floor of the 2.5 story private single family dwelling. An attack hose was stretched by firefighters of Engine 88 while Truck 23 began a search of the home when they arrived. Engine 23 established a water supply at the hydrant and fed Engine 88. They would then stretch a second hose into the home to assist battling the blaze. Firefighters were able to quickly douse the flames and hold the assignment to an All Hands job. Thankfully no one was home at the time of the incident. One pet was rescued from the home by members of Truck 23. One firefighter was injured at this scene during overhaul when a ceiling collapsed on them. He would be treated at the hospital and then released.

1/20 ROUTE 46 (SOUTH MATTROPOLIS) CHICKEN KING FIRE
At 10:24 PM firefighters were dispatched to an activated fire alarm at the Chicken King restaurant on Route 46 West in South Mattropolis. When Engine 59 arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and visible fire in the restaurant. Crews would make an aggressive interior attack and located heavy fire in the rear of the restaurant. Firefighters were able to get water on the fire quickly, but heavy fire was located in the roof area. As firefighters were attempting to open up the roof and knock down the flames, an air conditioning unit on the roof was causing the roof to sag. All crews would be evacuated from the building and shortly after all firefighters were accounted for, the air conditioning collapsed and heavy fire began venting through the roof. Truck 37 and Truck 25 then placed their towers in operation as multiple exterior hand lines were stretched. A 3rd Alarm would eventually be requested to the scene and Truck 23 would place their ladder pipe in operation. Thankfully there were no injuries at this incident.

1/1 WEST PLEASANT AVE (MIDLAND) DUMPSTER FIRE
At 9:10 AM on New Years Day, the first working fire occurred in Midland on West Pleasant Ave. A dumpster on fire was located by a motorist who observed smoke in the area and smelled something burning. Due to the dumpster being next to a building, a full first alarm assignment was dispatched to the scene. Engine 34 and Truck 23 were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and prevent any further extension or damage.
