The Liberty County Fire Academy was originally established in 1955. At that time, all of the fire departments that operated in Liberty County would send their recruits here for training. In 1997, after the establishment of the F.D.L.C., the fire academy was absorbed by the F.D.L.C. to send new hires for training to become F.D.L.C. firefighters. Other agencies, both fire and medical, outside of Liberty County also send their recruits here to train. The academy offers classes for Firefighter 1, 2, 3, Hazardous Materials Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, First Responder, Fire Marshall, Fire Prevention, Urban Search & Rescue and more.
